October 27-28, 2017 in Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University there was held the International Conference «THE CONSTITUTION OF UKRAINE IN THE CONTEXT OF MODERN CONSTITUTIONAL PARADIGMS» (X TODYKA’S READINGS) organized by the Constitutional Law of Ukraine Department of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University.

The conference brought together about 150 participants from more than 30 universities and scientific institutions of Ukraine, Poland, Belarus and Russia.

The conference was opened by Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, Doctor of Law, professor, academician of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine Anatoliy Hetman, who wished the participants of the conference fruitful cooperation, and also recalled the figure of the outstanding constitutionalist – Yuri Nikolaevich and the first Readings passed ten years ago.

Also greetings to the participants of the event were addressed by the Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, Doctor of Law, Professor Yuri Grigorievich Barabash. The scientist sincerely congratulated the participants of the event, told about the scientific activity and unique features of the person-teacher, mentor and mentioned interesting facts from the biography of Yu.M. Todyka. The vice-rector noted that Yuri Nikolayevich made an extraordinary contribution to the development of the national constitutional and legal thought, was one of the most well-known and talented representatives of modern native legal science, the founder of a new direction of constitutionalism and left us his school, and scientific researches of the scientist are known far beyond Ukraine.

During the general discussion panel there were made the following presentations: Barabash Yuri, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, Corresponding Member of the NALS of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, Professor – CONSTITUTIONAL UKRAINE AS THE PRODUCT OF THE SOCIAL DIALOGUE; Luk’yanov Dmytro, Corresponding Member of the NALS of Ukraine, Doctor of Law , Professor of the Theory of State and Law department of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University – NATIVE EXPERIENCE OF PROVIDING THE PRIVATE FUNDAMENTAL POLITICAL PARTIES; Gerasina Lyudmila, Doctor of Sociology, Professor of Sociology and Political Science department, Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University – SPECIFICS OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL STATE FORMS OF THE EAST COUNTRIES IN THE COMPARABLE PARADIGM; Letnyanchin Lyubomir, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor of the Constitutional Law Department of Ukraine Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University – DIRECT ACTION OF THE NORMS OF THE CONSTITUTION OF UKRAINE FROM PRINCIPLE TO THE PRACTICAL USE; Yevseyev Oleksandr, Candidate of Law, Scientific Consultant of the Court of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine -ARE THE ANTICORRUPTION COURTS “EXTRAORDINARY AND SPECIAL”?.

During 27-28 October 2017 also took place: «The first panel. The principles of modern constitutionalism»; «The second panel. Human rights in modern constitutions»; «The third panel. Modern problems of constitutional law evolution». The event was attended by Doctor of Law, Professor of the Department of Constitutional and Municipal Law of the Law Faculty of V. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Vitaliy Seryogin, who was also a student of Yuri Todyka. During the work of the thematic panels, the scientist made a scientific report entitled “Creating group profiles as a potential threat to the inviolability of private life” and gave the students an extremely deep knowledge of constitutional law.

For all participants was organized a tour by the University, in particular in the new Educational-Library Corps.

At the conference there were represented, heard and appreciated scientific reports of representatives of the Jagiellonian University, Horodensk state university of Yanka Kupala Grodno State University, Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, National University of Kyiv-Mohylyansk Academy, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, National University “Odessa Law Academy” , Institute of State and Law of V. Koretsky National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine,V. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Yuri Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Oles Gonchar Dnepr National University, Dnepr State University of Internal Affairs, Dnepr Regional Institute of Public Administration of the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine, Lviv State University of Internal Affairs, E. Didorenko Luhansk State University of Interior Affairs, Uzhgorod National University, other universities and scientific institutions.

The results of the conference were summed by PhD, docent, the Head of the Constitutional Law of Ukraine Department of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University Tetyana M. Slinko, who admited that many of the participants had almost grown up with Todyka’s readings and thanked everyone for their participation. Also, the students of the prominent constitutionalist noted that if Yuri Nikolayevich could see the speeches of the participants of the event, he would be proud of the new generations of young scientists. The participants were awarded with certificates for their active participation in the conference.

The Organizing Committee expresses appreciation for the assistance in organizing and conducting the conference to the event partners: Agency of Legislative Initiatives, Kharkiv Human Rights Group and Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University Alumni Association.
